Decision Time
Here are 10 revisions, where I tried most of the things discussed previously. I think I am at a place where i am ready to make a decision, but I’m wondering what you all think. I’ll tell you what I think as we go…

——————————————————————————————-
01. same old, with the logo placed further away. star is half as thick as type.
02. The “leading triangle” is as thick as the type, other triangles half as thick. I like this one.
03. The “leading triangle” is half as thick as the type, other triangles same as.
04. all as thick as the type
05. Wildcard. Leading triangle is same as type, others half. Border is same as type. I also like this one.
06. Back to the rule. Even to the edges, no thanks.
07. Shorter rule.
08. Even shorter rule.
09. Similar to #2, but the supporting triangles are even thinner.
10. Same as above, larger scale. I also like this a lot.
So, my votes are 2, 5, and 10. What do you think? I feel good about all three and I think I am ready to commit.

#4, i like all the lines being the same thickness. i also like #5 as well, it’s something different from all the logos.

#4, I like the experimentation with #5, I just don’t think it works. Its very strange to me to block out the logo, but I like where it is going. Still #4 is the strongest.
The ones with bolder lines or less bold lines throw off the balance of your awesome logo, and they also start to apply different meanings. The rule seems weird, and the logo being bigger on the last two just dominates too much.

Ok, so 4 is almost exactly where I started.
Everyone was telling me that the weights looked too similar, and to try making certain parts thinner. I might see 4 as working but now that I have done 2, I think its the way to go. I don’t think it throws off the balance (being that its symetrical) and the largest arrow being bolder only seems to imply “pointing to a decision” to me. When everything is the same weight (#4) it seems very heavy now.

It is very similar to what you started with, but I think the different typeface is giving it a bit more contrast because of the thinner and more elongated forms of letters. The Futura you had before had more of a spaced out mono-square shape to it, and it was squatty and bolder. Also, the new typeface allows a bit more negative space and leniency between shapes
I’m only saying this because I feel very strongly that the shapes that emphasize a specific triangle and not others is very odd and doesn’t have that certain ‘together-ness’that the others have.

yes i agree with #4 also. i think it’s a good thing to have the start strokes all the same weight, or i try to read too much into it. and the fact that this is very much like your original is fine. good instincts.

I agree that #4 is best, but I do like the idea of #2. I think there is potential for using 4 as the main logo but let 2 be the basis of some kind of animation or a poster or something.
I think it’d be pretty awesome if you did something that feels like a 1970′s educational video, like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Z53wTtGGA0 which is a really cool little film, maybe you’d seen it… or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch-R1aIM-C0&feature=browch
