Posted in 03: Decision Laboratory on February 20, 2010 by ChrisHere are 10 revisions, where I tried most of the things discussed previously. I think I am at a place where i am ready to make a decision, but I’m wondering what you all think. I’ll tell you what I think as we go…

——————————————————————————————-
01. same old, with the logo placed further away. star is half as thick as type.
02. The “leading triangle” is as thick as the type, other triangles half as thick. I like this one.
03. The “leading triangle” is half as thick as the type, other triangles same as.
04. all as thick as the type
05. Wildcard. Leading triangle is same as type, others half. Border is same as type. I also like this one.
06. Back to the rule. Even to the edges, no thanks.
07. Shorter rule.
08. Even shorter rule.
09. Similar to #2, but the supporting triangles are even thinner.
10. Same as above, larger scale. I also like this a lot.
So, my votes are 2, 5, and 10. What do you think? I feel good about all three and I think I am ready to commit.
Typeface: Indicator (Revised)
Posted in 03: Decision Laboratory with tags indicator, type design on February 19, 2010 by ChrisLogos
Posted in 03: Decision Laboratory on February 18, 2010 by ChrisHere are new logo variations with my new typeface Indicator. I’ve always found that the two words look unbalanced when the star is centered above them, because laboratory is longer than decision. I have been looking at various ways of encasing the words; to create a stronger centered feel, and also to hold the logo/ mark together.
These are the best of my experiments. Which work or don’t work for you?
Keep in mind that this is just for when the logo and mark appear together, they will still be separate at times. In the last two the mark is only implied in the frame, and would only appear by itself.
Also, try to imagine your seeing this for the first time, and what decision laboratory is, and try to forget everything you’ve seen before (not that this is drastically different, it just could affect things).
